Papers, 1905-1971.

The collection contains correspondence during 1934 through 1941 concerning hearing impaired children in Atlanta. Also included are test results listed by schools, lesson plans, activity material for teaching and testing, and copies of speeches and reports. Belle's daughter, Edythe, donated her mother's teaching certificates as well as correspondence in tribute of Belle's work after her death in 1965.

Audiometer testing was conducted by the Atlanta Public School System. The testing of individuals took place in the schools and the results are included. The program for the hearing impaired was administered by Belle R. McConnelle of the Atlanta Public Schools. Her correspondence provides information on education in the Atlanta area for the hearing impaired. Mrs. McConnell's interest stems from her own deafness.
